Job Title: Battery Testing Analyst
Department: Quality & Certification / R&D
Location: [Bengaluru, India]
Experience Required: Minimum 3-5 years
Employment Type: Full- time
About the Role
We are looking for a Battery Testing Analyst who will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing testing activities for electric vehicle battery packs, particularly for two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with battery testing protocols, a strong understanding of AIS-156 and EV battery certification requirements, and the ability to design structured testing processes that ensure compliance, performance, and safety.
This role involves working across mechanical, electrical, and quality domains — from validating raw materials to managing certification processes with external test labs.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation
- Plan and conduct electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests on EV battery packs, modules, and components.
- Perform tests on charging connectors, enclosures, busbars, cooling systems, and other structural elements.
- Design and execute test protocols and validation procedures as per AIS-156, UN38.3, and other relevant EV standards.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for battery testing
- Monitor and record test parameters — voltage, current, temperature, vibration, impact, and insulation resistance.
- Evaluate battery pack performance, safety, and durability under various load and environmental conditions.
Quality & Supply Chain Validation
- Inspect and approve incoming raw materials and components (metal fabrication, busbars, connectors, cells, etc.) for quality and conformity.
- Maintain coordination with procurement and design teams to ensure materials meet design and testing specifications.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for failed parts or materials.
Documentation & Certification
- Maintain comprehensive testing documentation, data logs, and test reports.
- Prepare and submit documentation packages for AIS-156 and other certification processes.
- Liaise with external testing laboratories and certification bodies to plan and execute mandatory tests.
- Ensure that all design validation plans (DVPs) and process validation activities are up to date.
- Support internal audits and maintain records for compliance traceability.
Process Development & Continuous Improvement
- Define and optimize test setups, fixtures, and data acquisition systems.
- Establish clear testing workflows and process controls for repeatability and accuracy.
- Contribute to process improvements in quality assurance and testing methodologies.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to close feedback loops from testing outcomes.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Education: : B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years in battery testing, validation, or quality assurance in the EV or energy storage sector
- Strong knowledge of AIS-156, UN38.3, and IEC 62133 testing standards.
- Understanding of battery pack architecture, cell chemistry (Li-ion, LFP), and BMS fundamentals
- Experience with data logging instruments, thermal chambers, vibration tables, and insulation testers
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, and statistical quality tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and material specifications.
- Proficiency in Excel, test report preparation, and documentation management.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with external labs and internal teams.
Desirable Attributes
- Hands-on experience working in battery manufacturing or validation lab.
- Understanding of environmental and mechanical stress tests (drop, crush, vibration, thermal shock).
- Exposure to fast-charging battery systems and associated safety validation.
- Knowledge of process validation frameworks and quality inspection methods.
- A structured and analytical approach to testing, validation, and reporting.
